HARMONIE B-- 2005 FILLY OUT OF SPS LAUREEN BY HIS HIGHNESS
Harmonie B (His Highness x SPS Laureen (Lauries Crusador xx/Duden) was bred in Dorum, Germany by Barbara Schmidt, DVM, Bridlewood Farm. This lovely filly was purchased as a weanling by dressage competitor, Sally Fish, Tarentum, PA.

Owner's comments: "Harmonie B is very intelligent and inquisitive. She loves her lessons and interacting with people. When she grows up she is going to make an awesome riding horse! Harmonie B is getting really tall, but she is still very elegant and feminine. She knows everything a yearling needs to know - leads well, crossties well, picks up her feet, trailers, can leave her horse friends and hang out with people, clips, fly spray and loves the vacumm cleaner! She is such a joy and so very, very smart."

This beautiful 2005 filly out of SPS Laureen was bred at Jens Meyer Hengstation in Dorum, Germany where His Highness (Hohenstein/Donnerhall/Feiner Stern) stood for his breeding career.
HINNEMAN B - 2004 GELDING OUT OF SPS LAUREEN BY HIS HIGHNESS
Hinneman B is by His Highness (Hohenstein/Donnerhall/Feiner Stern) x SPS Laureen. Bred in Dorum, Germany by Barbara Schmidt, DVM, Bridlewood Farm. Hinneman B was purchased as a yearling by USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist, Jane Bohren, Cedarside Farm, Leo, IN. He will be trained as a dressage competition prospect.

"The two geldings that I purchased from you are the two most trainable horses I have ever encountered. Hinneman B (Hickman) was backed the first of January and truly looks like a 5 year old. Hennessey was backed two months ago and you would think he's been going for months. Just got back from lessons with Yvonne Barteau and she couldn’t get over the fact that they were 3 and handling the commotion and distractions at her facility so well. She also thought they had exceptional gaits."

I feel so fortunate to have owned such talented as well as beautiful animals. Just a side note, Hickman needs one more score at 1st level but is sitting 1st at the moment in the AA division."

"Just got back from 2 shows held over the weekend. Hickman B was the talk of the show. He went champion of both shows with training level scores of 83% anf 81%. He also went 1st level champion of both shows with scores of 75%. No could believe he was only 4 years old. He acts and carries himself like an upper level horse. At this time He is in 2nd place AA as well as 2nd place HOY. At 1st level he is in first place AA with a score of 71%. He is such a pleasure to ride and show. Best horse I've ever started. LAURIES CRUSADOR XX - SIRE OF SPS LAUREEN
Called "the bay refiner", Lauries Crusador xx began with a racing career in England. He retired with stakes winnings of almost twenty thousand pounds. His noted racing sire, Welsh Pageant xx, was a successful racehorse winning 11 races and £53,527. His dam, Square Note xx won over hurdles as well as on the flat, and produced many winners as well.

Lauries Crusador xx came to the State Stud Celle in 1991 as a five year old, via the Dutch stallion owner, Henk Nijhoff and the former Director of the Holstein Verband, Maas Hell – who later became one of Germany’s biggest private stallion owners. Stationed at the Landesbrück breeding station, he impressed the breeders with his presence, quality and exceptional movement.

His career as a breeding stallion has exceeded all expectations. He has 1,560 registered offspring in Hanover, 349 registered broodmares, and 103 States Premium Mares (or candidates) and 546 registed competiton horses. As listed in the "Hannoveraner Jahrbuch Hengste 2005" (Stallion Yearbook) he has exceptional breeding values for dressage, type - especially in the areas of head, saddle position, frame and type, limbs and also has shown influence in the areas of improving gaits and rideability.

He has 39 licensed sons, 13 of them being registered into the premium stallion register. SPS Laureen's full brother, Longchamp was purchased by the state stud. Longchamp was an easy winner of the dressage section of his performance test, and was reserve champion at the Bundeschampionate in 1995. Since then Longchamp has progressed to FEI level dressage with his rider, Wolfhard Witte. Other noted offspring include FEI competition horses Laurentianer, LeBo, Little Big Man, Danish Olympic competitor Louis Heslegard, 2004 Athens Olympic Competitor Lesotho, breeding stallions Lancier and Laurentio and the exceptional dressage competitors and outstanding sires Londonderry, Londonbeat, and Laudabilis.
LAURIES CRUSADOR XX MAKES HISTORY!
In 2006, Lauries Crusador xx made history by becoming the first Thoroughbred stallion to be named Hanoverian Stallion of the Year!

Dr Ludwig Christmann, deputy breeding director of the Hanoverian Verband commented on Lauries Crusador xx in a recent interview:
"Definitely Lauries Crusador xx and his sons (will play a major role in the Hanoverian bloodlines in the next few years). A Thoroughbred stallion like him who in the first generation produces Grand Prix horses, is very rare. Already there is Lesotho with Ellen Schulten-Baumer, and Le Beau in northern Germany with Mr Koch. Falk Rosenbauer has been very successful at Prix St Georges with Little Big Man. We don't expect this of a Thoroughbred stallion. Often it is the second cross, not the first cross, but we are lucky with Lauries Crusador who has produced good stallion sons like Longchamp and Londonderry, and they will play a big role."
WHY USE THE THOROUGHBRED IN A WARMBLOOD BREED?
"Reasons and Effects of Using Thoroughbreds in a Warmblood Breed to Improve Dressage and Jumping Marelines"
Dr. Jochen Wilkens, VhW Manager and Breeding Director - “The American Hanoverian” Winter 2005/2006.

How can we use Thoroughbreds to improve the warmblood breed? We do this by the careful selection of Thoroughbred Stallions to be used. The three reasons for using Thoroughbreds in a warmblood breed to improve dressage and jumping marelines are: 1.) the tendancy for warmbloods to become coarser and heavier over the generations, 2.) 80-90 percent of all riders are female, 3.) the need for charming, mobile and elegant horses which are long legged but not too heavy.

Refinement means improvement of energy, stamina and the ability to perform and stay sound. The Thoroughbred body leads to the refinement of the body and limbs, frequently with a good topline, (shoulders, withers, and croup.). Lauries Crusador xx is perhaps the best example of a refining Thoroughbred in breeding today.

Says Wilkens, “We must select only suitable stallions and we must learn that breeding means thinking in generations. On the mother’s side we like to see Thoroughbred blood in the first to third generations.”

Noted Thoroughbred sires important to the Hanoverian development which are found in the pedigrees of Bridlewood Farm’s horses include: Angelo xx (Roma I), Augustinus xx (Fabuleux),Black Sky xx (Bordeaux, Wolkenglanz), Bleep xx (Bordeaux, Donnerkeil), Cardinal xx (Guarantor), Ladykiller xx (Liandra), Lauries Crusador xx (SPS Laureen), Marcio xx (Werther's Brigitta) and Waidmannsdank xx (Werther's Brigitta).

LONGCHAMP - A SUCCESSFUL COMPETITOR AND SIRE
In 1995, Longchamp completed his stallion performance test as reserve champion and proved his outstanding talent in dressage, scoring 157.52 points. In the same year he was reserve champion in the three-year-old stallions classification at the Federal Campionships of German Riding Horses in Warendorf. In 1996 he was third in the four-year-old stallions class. He competed successfully at Prix St. Georges level in dressage, winning many classes. His first sons were successfully presented at the 1999 stallion licensing in Verden.
LONGCHAMP AND BARBARA SCHMIDT, DVM
Dr. Schmidt travels to Germany each year for the Annual Stallion Licensing (Hengstkoerung) of approximately 100 two-year old Hanoverian stallions in Verden. These young stallions are pre-selected from the approximately 6-7000 Hanoverian colts born each year in the Hanoverian breeding region.
While in Germany she is able to further evaluate and research bloodlines which will benefit American breeders. She makes numerous visits to both private stallion stations and the Hanoverian state stud at Celle and has met legendary stallions such as Fabuleux's sire Fabriano and Longchamp (shown in photo at left).
